Tim Tszyu vs Dennis Hogan Preview
It was only in December of 2020 that Tim Tszyu took his next step towards global legitimacy, by dispatching of challenger Bowyn Morgan in the very first round. Holding the clear speed and power advantage, Tsyzu lit Morgan up early with a barrage of punches, dropping his opponent to the canvas with a dynamite left hand and after Morgan got back to his feet Tszyu hit him with an overhand right from hell that promptly put an end to proceedings. This came only four months after making a mess of Jeff Horn and stamping himself as one of the best boxers in the country. It is clear that Tszyu is on a path to greatness but standing in his way is his toughest opponent yet in Dennis Hogan.
Despite dropping his last two fights, Hogan possesses an admirable record of 28-3-1, with his two most recent losses coming up against classy opposition. He dropped an extremely controversial majority decision to then WBO World Super Welterweight Champion Jaime Munguia in April 2019 and then stepped up to 160lb to take on WBC World Middleweight Champion Jermall Charo, in what was a very tough performance but ultimately resulted in a Round 7 TKO loss.
The betting says this should be over fairly quickly but The Wolf isn’t so sure. Hogan isn’t the most aggressive of boxers and he may be wary of Tszyu’s power early on. Tszyu showed a different level of aggression in his fight against Bowen, throwing quick combinations when moving in and out of the pocket. It is also interesting to note that Hogan hasn’t recorded a KO/TKO victory in the last seven years. This is Hogan’s first fight for new trainer Wayne McCulloch, so we may see a different version of Hogan tonight however when it’s all said and done, The Wolf is tipping Tszyu to take charge of the fight in the middle stages and ultimately put him away in the final few rounds
